The present Writ Petition is filed questioning the action of the respondents in not releasing financial assistance of Rs.5,00,000/- (Rupees Five Lakhs only), sanctioned to the Petitioner (Application I.D No.OV2018115955) under the ‘Videshi Vidya Deevana’ Scheme, as illegal and arbitrary. 2. The petitioner had applied for financial assistance under the ‘Videshi Vidya Deevana’ Scheme, as per G.O.Rt.No.174 dated 07.12.2017, r/w. G.O.Ms. No.29 dated 27.08.2016, and the same was allotted with Application I.D.No.OV2018115955. Respondent No.3 issued proceedings vide sanction order Rc.No.B1/1840/2018-58, dated 14.10.2018, stating that he is eligible under the Scheme for an amount of Rs.10,00,000/-. The 1st installment of Rs.5,00,000/- was released to him, but the 2nd installment of Rs.5,00,000/- was not released for pursuing graduation at Washington University of Health Sciences, USA, for the course of Masters’ Degree, even after the result of the 1st semester was uploaded. The financial assistance promised to the petitioner was not disbursed to him. Hence, the present writ petition is filed. 3. Learned Assistant Government Pleader for respondents submits that the application of the petitioner would be considered and amount due would be sanctioned, if the petitioner is within the conditions specified for release of the due amount. 4 HN, J W.P.No.23119_2026 4. Considering the submissions, this writ petition is disposed off, with the following directions: (i) The respondents are directed to examine the claim of the petitioner within a period of six (06) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. (ii) In the event, the claim of the petitioner is found to be in order, the respondents are directed to release the amount due to the petitioner within a further period of eight (08) weeks. There shall be no order as to costs.
