1. The petitioner (Jayesh Kumar) is domicile of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and had approached this Court in public interest for the following reliefs:- a) Mandamus commanding and directing respondents to start and telecast 24X7 a DD Duggar/Dogri Channel in same analogy with DD Kashmir, DD Punjabi, DD Odia, DD Bangla etc. by establishing a regional subsidiary studio in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as well.
(b) Mandamus commanding and directing the respondents to operationalize the said DD Duggar/Dogri Channel by making suitable arrangements in the Union Territory of Ladakh as well with a further direction to render it functioning 24X7 throughout the territories of Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as is being done in the case of the other DD Channels mentioned above.
c) Any other relief that the Hon’ble Court deems fit and necessary. Serial No. 34

2. The record shows that the notice was issued to the respondents on August 12, 2024 and pursuant thereto, affidavit/response on behalf of respondent No. 2 has also been filed.

After we had heard the learned counsel for the parties at some length, they have reached a consensus that in the wake of the order dated October 14, 2024 passed by the Supreme Court in Special Leave Petition (Civil) No. 43504/2024 (Sindhi Sangat v Union of India and another), the proceedings in this petition be closed. However, the petitioner be granted liberty to move the Authorities concerned, if so advised, as regards his concerns/grievances.
4. That being so, we are not required to delve any further into the merits. Accordingly, the petition is disposed of, in the above terms, with the liberty prayed for.
