The Court made the following: 2 THE HONOURABLE DR JUSTICE K MANMADHA RAO CONTEMPT CASE NO: 586/2025 ORDER: This is a Suo Moto Contempt case, initiated by the petitioner against the respondent/contemnor, under Section 10 to 12 of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971 read with Rules 4(1) and 5(a) of the Contempt of Court Rules, 1980. 2. Brief facts of the case are that, on 23.12.2024, while this Court has taken up W.P.No.30539 of 2024 for hearing, Sri.Gundla Siva Prasad Reddy, learned counsel appeared on behalf of the petitioners and argued the matter and sought interim direction. On the other hand, the learned Government Pleader appearing for the respondents opposed the same and sought one week time to get instructions. In view of the same, this Court adjourned the case to the next day to enable the learned Government Pleader to get instructions. However, when the Court was preparing to proceed to the next matter, Sri.Gundla Siva Prasad Reddy, learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioners, continued to argue his case seeking for interim directions as prayed for, and further raised his voice loudly in an attempt to exert pressure on the court. As such behaviour was not expected from an Advocate and as the said conduct would attract the provisions of Contempt Of Courts Act, this Court directed the Registry to issue show cause notice to Sri.Gundla Siva Prasad Reddy, learned counsel for the petitioners as to why action should not be initiated against him under the Contempt of Courts Act, and posted the matter to 24.12.2024. 3 3. Though, a show cause notice was served on Sri.Gundla Siva Prasad Reddy, learned counsel on the same day i.e., on 23.12.2024, he did not choose to file any explanation when the matter came up for hearing on 26.12.2024 and 12.02.2025. Therefore, this Court initiated Suo Motu Contempt proceedings against the contemnor under Contempt of Courts Act, for raising his voice in an attempt to exert pressure on the Court. 4. Today when the matter is taken up for hearing, Sri.Gundla Siva Prasad Reddy, who is the contemnor, appeared before this Court and rendered his unconditional apology and further submitted that he would not repeat such acts in future. 5. Admittedly, the contemnor is a practicing advocate in the High Court, and if any adverse actions would be taken against the contemnor, it would have a significant impact on his profession and family. 6. So, in the light of said fact, and upon considering the unconditional apology rendered by the contemnor, this Court deems it appropriate to drop the contempt proceedings against the contemnor herein. 7. Accordingly, the Contempt Case is closed.
