Petitioners have been made accused in connection with S.T. No. 783 of 2024 arising out of Airport P.S. Case No. 40 of 2024 corresponding to G.R. No. 2512 of 2024, for the offences registered under Sections 140(2) and 140(3), 61(2) of the B.N.S., 2023 and Section 25(1-B)a, 26, 35 of the Arms Act, pending in the Court of learned Additional Judicial Commissioner-XVII, Ranchi.

On 26.08.2024, the informant, who is Director of M/s Precise Biopharma Pvt. Ltd., was abducted by the petitioners and co-accused persons. The accused persons realised rupees fifty lakhs ransom for his release. After the occurrence, some of the accused persons were apprehended in a vehicle with part of the ransom amount.

The petitioner Vilas Mohan Manjrekar was found sitting in the said vehicle, in which, about rupees twenty-five lakhs were recovered. As far as petitioner Abhishek Singh is concerned, rupees three lakhs were recovered from his house.

Considering the nature of allegation, I am not inclined to enlarge the petitioners on bail. Accordingly, their prayer for bail is rejected.

Learned Trial Court shall expedite the trial.
