The instant petition has been filed for initiation of contempt proceedings against the respondent for willfully disobeying the directions issued by this Court vide order dated 20.03.2023 (Annexure P-1), passed in CWP No.5700 of 2023, whereby following directions have been issued:- “Without expression any opinion on the merits of the case or the claim being made by the petitioners in the present petition, respondent No.3-Competent Authority is directed to consider and decide the claim made in the legal notice dated 28.02.2023 (Annexure P-5),in accordance with law, by passing a speaking order within a period of 8 weeks from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order. In case, the petitioners are found entitled, their claim be released within a period of 8 weeks along with interest @ 6% per annum from the date of accrual till the date of actual realisation. However, in case the competent authority is of the opinion that the claim of the petitioners sans merits, the same be adjudicated by passing a speaking order in accordance with law after affording opportunity of hearing to the petitioners within the time period stipulated hereinbefore. It is made clear that in case the stipulation of time is not adhered to, respondent No.3 shall be personally liable for the interest beyond the period from his own pocket.” 2. Reply by way of an affidavit of Mr. Gaurav Yadav, I.P.S, Director General of Police, Chandigarh on behalf on behalf of respondent No.3 has been filed. The same is taken on record. Learned Counsel for the respondent-State submits that an amount of interest amounting to Rs.44753/- has also been deposited in the bank account of the petitioner. Copy of the letter No. 1161/SS dated 06.02.2025 issued by the Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala has been brought in the Court today, which is taken on record. 4. Keeping in view the reply filed by the Director General of Police, Chandigarh, the claim of the petitioners have been considered and a well reasoned speaking order dated 16.02.2024 (Annexure R-1) has been passed. Subsequent thereto, an amount of interest amounting to Rs.44753/- has also been deposited in the bank account of the petitioner bearing No.55105824591. 5. Keeping in view of the above, nothing survives in the present petition, as such, same is disposed of as having been rendered infructuous. 6. The petitioner shall have the liberty to seek revival of this order in case, an amount of interest amounting to Rs.44753/- has been deposited in his account and shall also have the liberty to raise a challenge to the order dated 16.02.2024 (Annexure R-1). 7. Disposed of with the liberty aforesaid. 8. Rules stands discharged. 9.
