The present petition has been filed praying for a writ of mandamus commanding respondent no. 2 to renew/re-issue passport in favour of the petitioners on basis of the applications made by them on different dates. 2. It seems that the petitioners were issued show cause notices on different dates by the Passport Officer, requiring their explanation in relation to adverse police verification reports. 3. The case of the petitioners is that in one case, final report has been submitted and in the second criminal case, the proceedings have been quashed. However, it is admitted that so far the petitioners have not responded to the show cause notices issued to them. 4. Learned counsel for respondent nos. 1 and 2 points out that even as per the case taken in the writ petition, the final report has not been accepted. 5. Be that as it may, as respondent no. 2 has already sought explanation of the petitioners by issuing show cause notices to them, we leave it open to the petitioners to respond to the said notices and submit their explanation along with supporting evidence, so that the applications filed by them are processed expeditiously. 6. The petition stands disposed of.
