Also heard Mr. B. Sarma, learned counsel for the Accountant General and Ms. K. Phukan, learned Standing Counsel for the AEGCL. The matter was referred to mediation by order dated 14.07.2025. Pursuant thereto, the appointed mediator submitted a report indicating that the matter had been settled through mediation. The said report is available on record. Upon perusal of the report and the case file, it is noted that the writ petitioner expired on 08.11.2024, during the pendency of the writ petition. However, no steps were taken by the legal heirs of the deceased petitioner for substitution. Accordingly, the writ petition stands dismissed. Mr. B. Sarma, learned counsel for the Accountant General, has submitted that the Pension Payment Order (PPO) was issued in favour of the writ petitioner, namely Md. Nizamuddin Ahmed, S/o Late Nabiruddin Ahmed, on 05.03.2020. A copy of the said PPO has been furnished to the Court and is kept on record. The PPO also reflects the name of the widow of the deceased writ petitioner. In view of the above, and as no steps have been taken for substitution of the legal heirs following the death of the writ petitioner on 08.11.2024, the writ petition stands closed.
