Petitioner, a complainant in case FIR No.0293 dated 01.08.2025, registered at his instance against respondents No. 6 to 8 for commission of offence punishable under Sections 105, 3(5) of BNS 2023 has filed the present petition vide which he had prayed for directing official respondents to protect his life and liberty at the hands of private respondents.
Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that post lodging of FIR, the petitioner has been constantly receiving threats from the private respondents. Apprehending serious threats to his life and liberty, he immediaely moved a representation to Senior Superintendent of Police, Mohali. After addressing arguments for sometime, learned counsel restricts his prayer to direct the respondent No.4 to decide the representation dated 14.08.2025 (Annexure P-4) filed by the petitioner at the earliest. Notice of motion.

On the asking of the Court, Mr. Gautam Thapar, Sr. DAG Punjab accepts notice on behalf of respondent Nos.1 to 5 and has no objection in deciding the representation filed on behalf of the petitioner.
Without commenting upon the merits of the case and in view of the limited prayer made by learned counsel for the petitioner, the present petition is disposed of with direction to respondent No.4 to decide representation moved by the petitioner (Annexure P-4) within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this order and grant him protection, if there is any threat to his life and liberty. It is made clear that this order shall not be taken to protect the petitioner from legal action for violation of law, if any committed by him.
