JUDGMENT (Judgment of the Court was delivered by C.V.Karthikeyan J.) The Writ Appeal has been filed questioning the order, dated 06.12.2024 in W.P.(MD)No.24319 of 2023. 2.The said Writ Petition has been filed in the nature of a Mandamus seeking a direction to provide necessary police protection for constructing compound walls in S.No.407/4 at Uvari Village within Thisayanvilai Taluk, Tirunelveli District owned by Arulmighu Suyambulingaswamy Thirukovil, Uvari. 3.The learned Single Judge had dismissed the said Writ Petition. An appeal against any order passed by a learned Single Judge exercising criminal jurisdiction under Article 226 of the Constitution of India is not permissible under Clause 15 of Letters Patent, wherein, the right to file an appeal has been limited. The nature of relief sought in the Writ Petition was to provide police protection, which in effect, was exercise of criminal jurisdiction, though under Article 226 of the Constitution of India. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis
