The order dated 06.08.2025 passed by the respondent No.2/District Magistrate, Varanasi by which the application for grant of firearm license of the petitioner has been rejected is under challenge. 2. Today when the matter is taken up, a preliminary objection has been raised by learned Standing Counsel for the respondents that against the order impugned, the petitioner has statutory alternative remedy to file appeal before the Appellate Authority as provided under Section 18 of the Arms Act, 1959. 3. At this stage, a prayer has been made by learned counsel for the petitioner to dismiss the present petition as not pressed with liberty to file appeal before the Appellate Authority. 4. In the facts and circumstances of the case, the present petition is disposed of the permitting the petitioner to file statutory appeal before the Appellate Authority within period of three weeks. In case, the petitioner does so, the Appellate Authority will decide the aforesaid appeal on merits expeditiously and strictly in accordance with law within a period of two months thereafter.
