ORDER This Writ Petition (Criminal) has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to take appropriate action on the complaint lodged by the petitioner dated 15.10.2025 and also seeking police protection for the petitioner and his family members. 2. Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record. 3. The petitioner is a practising Advocate before this Court for the past several years. He is also a member of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and is holding the post of Chairman of the Enrollment Committee. The petitioner is also a spokesperson of a political party. The petitioner also filed several Public Interest Litigations, including the sale of illicit liquor and the toxic environmental hazards. 4. While being so, on 07.10.2025, there was an incident took place before the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, in the presence of leader of a political party, wherein the petitioner was assaulted and his two wheeler was also damaged. When he entered the premises of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu for his safety, even there, the cadres of the above said political party brutally attacked him and also damaged the articles belonging to the Bar Council. Further on 14.10.2025, at the main gate of this Court, the cadres of the said political party protested against the persons, who had raised their voices against the said leader. They abused the petitioner in filthy languages and also threatened him with dire consequences. They also threatened the petitioner that they would come again. Their statements were recorded and published in the social media. Therefore, the petitioner lodged a complaint before the fourth respondent. Based on the said complaint, an enquiry is now pending. 5. The learned counsel appearing for the fifth respondent submitted that even according to the petitioner’s complaint, the allegations made therein are only trivial in nature and as such, no FIR can be registered on the complaint lodged by the petitioner. 6. The learned Counsel for Government of Tamil Nadu (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondents 1 to 4 submitted that, based on the https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis

However, there is no life threat to the petitioner at the hands of any political party. 7. In view of the above, the fourth respondent is directed to register an FIR on the complaint lodged by the petitioner and proceed with the investigation in accordance with law. Insofar as the life threat is concerned, the third respondent is directed to look into the complaint lodged by the petitioner seeking police protection and, on receipt of the same, conduct an enquiry and dispose of the same within a period of four weeks from today. 8. With the above directions, this Writ Petition (Criminal) stands
