Petitioner Baljit Kaur alias Baljeet Kaur (mother-in-law) has filed petition under Section 482 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 for grant of anticipatory bail in case FIR No. 155 dated 01.07.2025 (Annexure P-1) under Section 118(1), 115(2), 74, 75, 85, 316(2), 190 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 registered at Police Station Sadar Faridkot, District Faridkot.

As per the facts of case, victim/complainant Manpreet Kaur gave her statement that she got married with Nirmal Singh on 01.12.2024. Her father had spent money as per his status. Complainant has given details of gold ornaments, furniture and other articles given at the time of marriage as detailed in FIR. Her husband was serving in Army. After about 20 days, he went back to his workplace. Thereafter, her mother-in-law and brother- LALIT SHARMA in-law started quarreling with her. but he supported his family. In matrimonial home, she was ill-treated and even beaten up. Behaviour of her husband also changed with passage of time. Family of her husband even started pressurizing her to give divorce. A quarrel also took place. Finally matter was reported to police.

Learned counsel for petitioner stated that matter has been compromised between the parties. They have started residing together as husband and wife. Petitioner is mother-in-law who is ready to join investigation.

Ms. Shweta Bawa, Advocate appeared and filed Vakalatnama on behalf of complainant, which is taken on record and confirmed the compromise between the parties. Complainant was also present in person who confirmed that she is living in matrimonial home.

Considering the aforesaid factual position, no purpose would be served by sending petitioner behind the bars who is mother-in-law of complainant. She is ready to join the investigation. In view of compromise arrived at in matrimonial dispute, anticipatory bail petition filed by petitioner is allowed. She be not arrested. In case of her arrest, she be released on bail to the satisfaction of Arresting/Investigating Officer concerned, subject to condition that petitioner will join investigation as and when required. She will not tamper with or interfere with investigation and will not leave country without prior permission as provided under Section 482(2) of BNSS, 2023.
