The present revision petition has been preferred under Article 227 of the Constitution of India seeking issuance of directions to the learned Rent Controller, Amritsar, for expeditious disposal of the proceedings in case titled Murari Lal Vs. Pushpa, bearing No. RP-38-2025 dated 06.02.2025 (Annexure P-1), instituted by the petitioner under Section 13 of the East Punjab Urban Rent Restriction Act, 1949 (hereinafter referred to as "the Act") against the respondent. 2. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that petitioner– Murari Lal son of Amar Nath has instituted an ejectment petition under Section 13 of the East Punjab Urban Rent Restriction Act, 1949, against the respondent-tenant seeking her eviction from the demised premises on the grounds of arrears of rent and bona fide personal requirement for himself as well as for his son. It is contended that the petitioner, being 101 years of age and suffering from age-related ailments, is facing grave hardship, as despite lapse of more than six months, the ejectment petition is still pending at its ANIL KUMAR 2025.08.25 10:20 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document CR-5575-2025 2 initial stage, thereby causing serious prejudice to his rights. Accordingly, a direction may be issued to the learned Rent Controller, Amritsar, to expedite the proceedings and decide the same at the earliest. 3. In view of the order proposed to be passed, notice is not being issued to respondent as it would delay the proceedings besides entailing additional expenses to the respondent. 4. I have heard learned counsel for the petitioner and have gone through the material placed on record. 5. Considering the fact that the petitioner is a senior citizen aged 101 years, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to the learned Rent Controller, Amritsar to expedite the proceedings and decide the application under Section 13 of the Act, in accordance with law, as expeditiously as possible.
