Respondents For Petitioner : Mr.S.Sugendran Additional Public Prosecutor ORDER This Suo Motu Case is dealt with in an extraordinary manner by the Dedicated Bench, pursuant to Suo Motu W.P.(Crl.) No.618 of 2025. 2. The allegations in this case are in the nature of protest without due permission. A case was registered in Cr.No.800 of 2017 on 13.03.2017 for the alleged offences under Sections 143, 341 and 188 of the Indian Penal Code. The Final Report was laid on 11.10.2018, and the accused have been facing trial since then. Thus, it can be seen that the allegations concern Page No.1 of 3 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis Suo Motu TR.No.2212 of 2025 exercising the democratic right to protest. Given the context and nature of the allegations, continuing the trial impinges on the right to a speedy trial of the accused. No useful purpose will be served by continuing the case. 3. Accordingly, the case in C.C.No.2745 of 2019 of XXIII Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Saidapet Taluk, Chennai, stands quashed. This Suo Motu Transfer Case is disposed of. 03.09.2025 grs Note to the Trial Court: This order is digitally signed and communicated electronically alone.
