Respondent For Petitioner : Mr.S.Sugendran Additional Public Prosecutor ORDER This Suo Motu Case is dealt with in an extraordinary manner by the Dedicated Bench, pursuant to Suo Motu W.P.(Crl.) No.618 of 2025. 2. The allegation in this case is that on 18.09.2021, the accused was giving liquor by getting Rs.100/- from the customers without any permission from the Government. A case was registered in Crime No.700 of 2021 for alleged offences under Section 4(1)(k) of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act. Considering the nature of allegations and the mater is pending at the summons stage for the past four years, any further continuation of the proceedings will impinge upon the accused's right to a speedy trial. No useful purpose will be served by keeping the matter pending. 3. Accordingly, the case in C.C.No.5 of 2022 of XVII Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Saidapet Taluk, Chennai, stands quashed. This Suo Motu Transfer Case is disposed of. 01.09.2025 grs Note to the Trial Court: This order is digitally signed and communicated electronically alone. The Trial Court shall take note of the order and accordingly classify the case pending before them as allowed / dismissed / disposed of, etc, and while doing so, consider any applications such as disposal of properties, etc., and pass appropriate orders, as may be necessary.
