1. The present petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the official respondents No.2 and 3 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of private respondent Nos.4 to 7 and take action on their representation dated 11.08.2025 (Annexure P-5).
2. It is submitted by the learned counsel for the petitioners that boy is 35 years old and girl is 30 years old. They are in love. Their parents are against their relationship and threats have even been extended to petitioner No.2 by her parents and relatives to kill her. Petitioners no.1 and 2 performed marriage with each other according to their Religious Rites and Ceremonies on 11.08.2025. Respondents No.4 to 7 are behind the lives of the petitioners thereby compelling them to run from one place to another. Apprehending danger to their life and liberty, they sent representation dated 11.08.2025 (Annexure P-5) to the Senior Superintendent of Police (Rural), Jalandhar but the same has not been taken into consideration and hence the present petition. He further submitted that at this stage, the petitioners would be satisfied if appropriate directions are issued to respondent No. 2- Senior Mamta 2025.08.18 21:51 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

4. Ms. Ramta Chowdhary, DAG, Punjab, who is present in Court, has accepted the notice on behalf of the respondents-State and submits that the needful will be done in due course. Let a complete set of the paperbook be supplied to her during the course of the day.
5. In view of the limited prayer made by the petitioners, without commenting anything on the merits of the case, the present petition is
disposed of at this stage with a direction to respondent No. 2 to decide the aforesaid representation dated 11.08.2025 (Annexure P-5) of the petitioners within a period of 15 days from today, by passing a speaking order in accordance with law. Needless to say, if any threat is found to the petitioners, the official respondents would provide them adequate security in
