Sujata Choudhary, learned counsel for the respondent nos. 1 and 2. 2. By means of the present writ petition, the petitioner has prayed for the following reliefs:- "(a) issue an order, direction or writ in the nature of mandamus and directing the respondent Regional Passport Officer, to consider and make amendment and correct date of birth of the petitioner as 13.03.2003 in his passport in place of his date of birth as 13.06.2002 reflected therein, within specified time frame. (b) Issue an order, direction or writ in the nature of mandamus and otherwise, direct the respondent to consider his representation dated 12.06.2025 and 13.08.2025, amend and correct his date of birth as 13.03.2003 in his passport in place of 13.06.2002, reflected therein and pass a reason and speaking order within a specified time frame." 3. On instructions, Smt. Sujata Choudhary, learned counsel for the respondent authorities, submits that as per applicable rules, correction in the date of birth can only be entertained if the request is made within the prescribed period of limitation. Since the petitioner's request is beyond the said period, the correction cannot be processed under the prevailing rules. 4. Learned counsel for the petitioner has placed reliance on a judgment dated 20.08.2016, passed by Coordinate Bench in Writ-C No. 36294 of 2016, wherein the Court directed the authorities to consider the request for correction of date of birth of the petitioner after considering the various Versus Counsel for Petitioner(s) : Chandra Shekhar Pal, Sunil Kumar Yadav Counsel for Respondent(s) : A.S.G.I., Sujata Choudhary Sahil Abbas Naqvi .....Petitioner(s) Union Of India And Another .....Respondent(s) orders issued by the authority. 5. In such view of the fact, the writ petition is disposed off with a direction to respondent no. 2 to consider and decide the petitioner's representations dated 12.06.2025 and 13.08.2025, in light of the judgment dated 20.08.2016 passed by Coordinate Bench in Writ-C No. 36294 of 2016, and pass a speaking and reasoned order strictly in accordance with law, within a period of one month from the date of production of certified copy of this order.
