Colney, GA ORDER: (per the Hon’ble, the Chief Justice) (Oral) The learned Advocate General placed on record the Remission Policy of 2026 framed by the Government of Meghalaya, i.e., the notification dated 2nd January, 2026, on the last date i.e., on 30th January, 2026. 2. Needless to state, that having regard to the Remission Policy of 2026, the Secretary, SLSA shall identify the cases where the accused would be entitled to remission and premature release based on the said Remission Policy of 2026 and file necessary applications before the bench having jurisdiction, so that the convict/accused persons can avail Serial No.01 Daily List 2026:MLHC:32-DB of the benefit of the new Remission Policy of 2026. We also direct the Superintendents of Jail to identify the accused persons/convicts, who would be entitled to premature release/remission as per the Remission Policy of 2026 and to take appropriate steps in that regard at the earliest. 3. A copy of the order to be forwarded to the Secretary, SLSA as well as the Superintendents of Jail within one week so as to enable them to comply with the aforesaid. 4. In view of the said notification and aforesaid directions, nothing survives for further consideration in the aforesaid petition. 5. Petition is disposed of with the aforesaid terms. (W.
