JUDGMENT : (per Sri G. Narendar, C.J.)
Petitioners are before this Court, praying for the following reliefs :
“(i) Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of Mandamus, commanding and directing Respondent Nos. 1 to 3 to provide adequate police protection to the petitioners and their family members, including by way of police armed guard/gunner, for ensuring their safety and security in light of the grave and serious threats posed to their life and liberty. (ii) Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of Mandamus, commanding and directing Respondent Nos. 1 to 3 to ensure that the Respondent no.4 & 5 are not able to create any harm to the life, liberty and reputation of the Petitioners. (iii) Issue a writ, order or direction which this Hon'ble Court may deem fit and proper in the circumstances of the case. (iv) Award cost of the petition in favour of the petitioners.”

On the last date of hearing, learned DAG was
directed to secure instructions. Today, on instructions, 1

learned DAG submits that the fact, that the first petitioner’s husband and the fifth petitioner had obtained loans from various persons, is not in dispute, and that civil cases and criminal cases in this regard have also been preferred by the parties, who are alleged to have lent the money.

Learned DAG would further submit that, notwithstanding the said fact, the third respondent is duty bound, and will provide and ensure adequate security to the petitioners.

The submission of learned DAG is placed on record.

The Writ Petition is disposed of, placing on record the submissions of the learned DAG.
As a sequel thereto, the miscellaneous petitions, if any pending, shall stand closed.
