Serial No. 01 Supplementary List HIGH COURT OF MEGHALAYA AT SHILLONG Cont.Cas(C) No. 17 of 2025 Date of Decision: 05.06.2025 Shri Dipankar Kar …. Petitioner(s) Versus Shri Banteilang J. Kharshandi, MCS Current Director of School Education & Literacy, Meghalaya, Shillong … Respondent(s) Coram: Hon’ble Mr. Justice H. S. Thangkhiew, Chief Justice (Acting) Appearance: For the Petitioner(s) : Mr. H.L. Shangreiso, Sr. Adv. with Mr. T. Dkhar, Adv. For the Respondent(s) : i) Whether approved for reporting in Yes/No Law journals etc: ii) Whether approved for publication Yes/No in press: 2025:MLHC:475 (ORAL) 1. This contempt application has been filed alleging violation of the order dated 21.05.2025 passed by this Court in WP(C) No. 67 of 2025, by the respondents. 2. It is submitted by Mr. H.L. Shangreiso, learned Senior counsel for the petitioner that this Court by the order dated 21.05.2025 had directed the respondents to consider the placement of the services of the petitioner to one of the vacant posts, either in Nongstoin or Jowai. He further submits that in spite of the direction for placement the petitioner in any administrative position, the respondents by the order dated 29.05.2025 have transferred him to a Teaching post at Nongstoin. He therefore, submits that this is a violation of the orders of this Court, and contempt has been committed by the respondents. 3. Without issuance of notice, this Court has perused the order in question, which also refers to the earlier order dated 10.01.2025 passed in WP(C) No. 228 of 2021, wherein on a plain reading, it has directed for the reinstatement of the petitioner in service, even to the extent of placing him in any administrative position, if permissible under the rules. The allegation of the petitioner therefore, that there was a strict direction for 2025:MLHC:475 placing him in any administrative capacity is not substantiated by the order in question. 4. Accordingly, no contempt having been made out, this contempt stands closed and disposed of. Chief Justice (Acting) Meghalaya 05.06.2025 “V.
