The petitioner has applied for renewal of passport vide application dated 12.6.2025 and since it has not been renewed, therefore, the present writ petition has been filed. 2. Learned Standing Counsel has placed on record the instructions received from the SHO, Police Station Utraon, Commissionerate, Prayagraj wherein it is stated that Mohd. Azaz alias Chand Babu, son of Mohd. Shakir is involved in a criminal case and Charge Sheet No. 326/2021 dated 25.10.2021 has already been filed in the court. 3. To the same effect is the instruction provided by the Regional Passport Officer. 4. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is not involved in the said crime and he also tried to contend that the petitioner herein is different from Mohd. Azaz, who has been charge sheeted in the said case. 5. As per instructions provided by the Passport Officer, a show cause notice has been issued to the petitioner on 28.7.2025 in relation to the said criminal case on basis of police verification report dated 18.7.2025. 6. We leave it open to the petitioner to respond to the said show cause notice along with relevant evidence and in which event, the Regional Passport Officer will examine the stand of the petitioner and take appropriate decision within four weeks from the date of communication of the instant order. 7. The petition stands disposed of accordingly.
