Prayer in the present petition is for issuance of direction in the nature of habeas corpus to release the minor granddaughter of the petitioner, namely, Navneet Kaur @ Moon d/o Maninder Singh, from the premises of respondent No.2-the Superintendent, Gandhi Vanita Ashram, Jalandhar. 2. In compliance of the previous order passed by this Court, the minor namely Navneet Kaur @ Moon has been produced before this Court. The minor Navneet Kaur @ Moon herself has submitted before this Court that she had earlier approached this Court for grant of protection by way of filing CRWP No.5859 of 2025 and as per order dated 10.07.2025 passed by this Court, she had been sent to the protection home and presently she is living in the protection home at Gandhi Vanita Ashram, Jalandhar, District Jalandhar. However, the petitioner i.e. grandfather has approached this Court praying for release of his minor granddaughter and allowed her to go with them. 3. This Court has interacted with the minor and she apprised the Court PARVEEN KUMAR 2025.08.13 15:30 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document CRWP-8696-2025 -2- that she wants to go with her family members i.e. her father, grandfather and grandmother, who are also present in person in the Court and she wants to pursue her study further. However, the minor has submitted in emphatic terms that once she attains the age of majority, she would marry Karanjot Singh. The family members, who are present in the Court, also submit that preference would be given to the choice of the minor Navneet Kaur @ Moon. 4. Learned State counsel has no-objection if the custody of minor Navneet Kaur @ Moon be handed over to her family members, who are present in the Court today. 5. In view of the submissions made above, the minor is allowed to go with her family members from the Court and her custody has been handed over to her parents today. 6. Accordingly, the present petition stands disposed of. 7. A copy of this order be given under the signature of the Bench Secretary of this Court.
