ORAL JUDGMENT

1. The appellant [Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited] has filed the present appeal impugning an ad-interim

order dated 24.04.2025 passed by the learned Single Judge, whereby the learned Single Judge has directed the appellant to grant promotion to the respondents, notwithstanding the punishment imposed on them, if they were entitled to any such promotion. The said order was passed in the context of the challenge made by the respondents to the order imposing punishment pursuant to the disciplinary proceedings. The disciplinary authority had
directed withholding of two increments of the respondents.
2. The learned Senior Counsel appearing for the appellants submits that the impugned order is an ad-interim order, and it would be apposite if the matter is remanded to the learned Single Judge with a request for an early disposal.
3. The learned counsel appearing for the respondents joins the learned Senior Counsel for the appellants in this request.
4. In view of the above, we dispose of the present appeal by directing that the appellants shall file their objections within a period of two weeks from date and the respondents may file their rejoinder within a period of one week thereafter. We

request the learned Single Judge to consider the request for early disposal of the writ petition. In the meanwhile, if a meeting of the Departmental Promotion Committee [DPC] is held, the DPC shall consider all factors including the punishment, as imposed on the respondents for the purpose of taking any decision in regard to the promotion of the respondents. The said decision would be subject to the outcome of the writ petition.
5. The appeal is disposed of with the aforesaid observations.
6. All pending applications are also disposed of.
