Petitioner has filed present petition under Section 482 of BNSS, 2023 for grant of anticipatory bail in FIR No.0162, dated 19.08.2024, under Section 498-A of IPC, registered at Police Station Mahilpur, District Hoshiarpur (Annexure P-1).

As per facts of the case, complainant-Rasleen Bains filed written complaint against her husband Sharandip Singh Gill and other members of in-laws regarding maltreatment and demand of dowry in the matrimonial home. She alleged that her marriage took place on 07.01.2024 with Sharandip Singh Gill. Her parents had given dowry in the shape of gold ornaments, as per demand of her in-laws. Her mother had also given her gold ornaments at the time of marriage along with expensive clothes and other customary gifts. They had spent Rs.15 lacs on her marriage. CRM-M-45514-2024 2 and she was illtreated in order to bring more dowry. She was told to bring Rs.10 lacs from her mother as the money was needed to apply spouse visa through her. Her mother managed to gather Rs.10 lacs and she gave it to her father-in-law in cash. Thereafter, there is demand for a gold necklace. She did not tell about it to her family. Her husband gave beatings to her under the influence of drugs. She was again told to bring Rs.15 lacs from her mother to which she had refused. The complainant has narrated various incidents which took place in the matrimonial home. She was continuously illtreated and was kept like a prisoner. She was under depression. She managed to reach her mother’s home and was given treatment at I.V.Y. Hospital, Hoshiarpur. Finally, the complaint was filed on the basis which present FIR has been registered.

Learned counsel for petitioner pointed out that he has already joined the investigation on 19.09.2024 in compliance of order dated
12.09.2024. The matter has been settled with the intervention of Mediation and Concilliation Centre. The settlement agreement dated 29.04.2025 is also annexed. He is still ready to join the investigation as and when required, therefore, his anticipatory bail petition may be allowed.
4. Status report is already filed. Learned counsel for respondent No.2 confirmed the compromise. It is submitted that petitioner may be bound to fulfill the terms and conditions as settled in Mediation and Conciliation Centre.
5. In view of aforesaid factual position, it is evident that petitioner and respondent No.2/complainant have settled their dispute. Petitioner was granted interim bail vide order dated 12.09.2024 and he had already joined the investigation on 19.09.2024. CRM-M-45514-2024 3 join the investigation as and when required. No purpose would be served by sending the petitioner behind the bars. Therefore, at this stage, without expressing my mind on the merits of the case, interim bail already granted by the Coordinate Bench on 12.09.2024 is confirmed subject to the conditions envisaged under Section 482(2) of Cr.P.C..
6. Petition is, accordingly, disposed of.
7. Pending miscellaneous application(s), if any, stand disposed of accordingly as well.
