This petition has been filed for seeking a direction to the official respondents to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners from the hands of private respondents (arrayed in the petition) in view of the fact that the petitioners are living in a live-in relationship and are under eminent threat at the hands of respondents No.4 & 5. 2. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that both the petitioners are major and are in a live-in relationship against the wishes of respondents No. 4 & 5 and they apprehend danger at the hands of private respondents No.4 & 5. They have placed on record the copy of Aadhar cards (Annexures P-1 and P-2 respectively) to substantiate their claim. The petitioners have also submitted a representation dated 01.08.2025 (Annexure P-3) to respondent No.2 i.e the Superintendent of Police Yamuna Nagar, District Yamuna Nagar. 3. Notice of motion to the official respondents only. 4. Mr. Sanjay Sabharwal, Addl. Advocate General, Punjab, who is present in Court, accepts notice for the official respondents. It goes without saying that the protection of life and liberty is a fundamental right emanating out of Article 21 of the Constitution of India and the scope of the present petition is only regarding protection of life and liberty of the petitioners. 6. Without commenting upon the validity of relationship between the parties, this petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2- the Superintendent of Police Yamuna Nagar, District Yamuna Nagar, to decide the said representation of the petitioners (Annexure P-3) within a period of 15 days from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this order. The respondent No.2 is further directed to ensure protection to the life and liberty of the petitioners, if there is any threat. 7. It is made clear that above direction shall not bar the initiation of any proceedings which may be felt necessary, in accordance with law.
