The petitioner would submit that he was working as a Secretary in the 3rd respondent Society and had retired from service on 31.08.2018. There was no disciplinary proceedings, surcharge and criminal case pending against him and against a total service benefit of Rs.15,61,597.65/-, the respondents have, over a period of time, paid the petitioner a sum of Rs.7,10,000/- and the balance amount is yet to be settled. The petitioner would submit that he has been suffering from frontal chronic subdural haematoma for the past 2/5 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P.No.29948 of 2025 3 years and these amounts are required for meeting his medical expenses. Therefore, the petitioner is before this Court. 3. Heard the learned counsels on either side and perused the materials available on record. 4. It is seen that the petitioner had retired on 31.08.2018. In response to a letter addressed by the petitioner' son, the Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies has stated that a total sum of Rs.15,61,597.65 is payable to the petitioner. These amounts are rightfully due to the petitioner. 5. In the light of the fact that, despite the petitioner having retired 7 years ago, his retirement benefits have not yet been paid, a mandamus is issued to the respondents to pay the remaining service benefits along with statutory interest @ 15% per annum from the date of retirement till the date of payment, within a period of one month from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
