Daily Lok Adalat Bench No.1 506 FAO-6338-2018 (O&M) JUBER VS. MAHENDER AND OTHERS Present:- Mr. Ashish Gupta, Advocate for the appellant. Mr. Rajneesh Malhotra, Advocate for respondent No.3-Insurance Company. *** Vide order dated 12.03.2025 on the basis of the statement made by learned counsel for the appellant a proposal was made for enhancing compensation by Rs.20,00,000/- over and above the amount already granted by the MACT concerned. Today, learned counsel for the Insurance Company has stated that the Insurance Company has agreed to enhance the compensation only by Rs.18,00,000/-- and not by Rs.20,00,000/- and has signed to that effect. Learned counsel for the appellant has agreed to this counter offer of the Insurance Company. We dispose of this case with a direction to the Insurance Company to deposit a crossed-cheque in the sum of Rs.18,00,000/- (Rupees Eighteen Lakh only) in the name of the appellant with the office of the Lok Adalat of the High Court on or before 14.05.2025 failing which the amount will carry 9% interest p.a. From the date of this order till the cheque is deposited with the office of the Lok Adalat. The appellant's counsel/appellant may collect the cheque from the office of the Lok Adalat. Civil Misc. Application seeking condondation of delay of 45 days in filing the appeal is disposed of in view of the settlement. Copy of the order/statement be supplied /sent to the counsel/parties and file be returned to the High Court.
