THE HONOURABLE SRI JUSTICE K SREENIVASA REDDY CRIMINAL PETITION NO: 1907 OF 2025 ORDER: This Criminal Petition, under Sections 480 and 483 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, has been filed by the petitioner/A1, seeking bail, in Crime No.202/2024 of Sabbavaram Police Station, Anakapalle District. 2. A case has been registered against the petitioner and others for the offences under Sections 20(b)(ii)(C) r/w 8(c), 25 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. 3. Case of the prosecution, in brief, is that, on 25.8.2024 at about 3.00 pm, on receipt of credible information regarding illegal possession and transportation of ganja, the S.I of Police, Sabbavaram Police Station, along with staff and mediators, started conducting vehicle checking at R & B tar road, Gullepalli junction, Sabbavaram Mandal and found a lorry bearing registration no.AP 31 TA 4789. On seeing the police, Driver of the lorry and other inmates in the lorry tried to escape by stopping the lorry. Then police apprehended A1 and A2 and on enquiry, they disclosed their identity particulars and police found 912 kgs of ganja in their possession in the lorry. On enquiry, A1 and A2 confessed that they fetched the same from other accused. Police seized the contraband and the vehicle, and arrested the accused and got them remanded to judicial custody on 25.8.2024. 4. Heard. Perused the record. 2 5. Learned Assistant Public Prosecutor submits that investigation is not yet completed and some more witnesses are to be examined and further submitted that huge quantity of contraband was found in possession of the accused and prays to dismiss the Criminal Petition. 6. A perusal of the material available on record goes to show that the petitioner/A1 was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 25.8.2024 and police, on credible information, seized 912 kgs of ganja, which is a huge commercial quantity, from the possession of the petitioner and other accused. As stated by the learned Assistant Public Prosecutor that the investigation is at nascent stage. Hence, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner at this stage. 7.
