Sangma, learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that the writ petition has been filed praying for reconstruction of the service-book of the petitioner and also for disbursement of the retiral benefits to the petitioner. It is submitted by the learned Counsel that the State-respondent Nos. 1 – 4 has already filed their affidavit-in-opposition wherein it has been stated that the service book of the petitioner has been reconstructed along with IPS of 1987, 1997, 2007 and 2017 and forwarded to the Meghalaya Election Department for necessary approval. It is also submitted that the affidavit of the State-respondents indicates that step has been taken by the concerned department for preparation of the pension papers of the petitioner. The learned Counsel, therefore, submits that since the service book of the petitioner has been reconstructed, he does not have any further grievance at this juncture and prays that the writ petition may be disposed of with a direction to the respondent to prepare the pension paper of the petitioner within a specific period of time. Mr. K. P. Bhattacharjee, learned GA for the State-respondents does not object to the prayer made on behalf of the petitioner. He, however, submits that fixing of specific period of time is not called for as the department has already started the process for preparation of pension papers of the petitioner and the process would be completed without any unnecessary delay. 2025:MLHC:799 In view of the submissions made by the learned Counsels appearing for the parties, there remains noting to be decided in this writ petition. The writ petition, as such, is closed by directing the respondents to prepare the pension paper of the petitioner at the earliest without any unnecessary delay.
