The present contempt application has been filed pleading willful disobedience of the order dated 13.12.2023 passed by the Supreme Court in Criminal Appeal No.3813 of 2023 arising out of SLP (Crl.) No.8612 of 2022. The High Court is not empowered to punish for disobedience of the contempt of Supreme Court, a power which vests in the Supreme Court itself. Further, a perusal of the records annexed with the affidavit do not disclose any willful disobedience of the order passed by the opposite party who is a Judicial Officer and is presently hearing the criminal case so as to occasion registration of proceedings under the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971.
