2. It is the contention of the petitioner that though she did not have Tamil as her first language in Matriculation and Higher Secondary, she studied Tamil as her first language during her degree course. Therefore, she claims eligibility to be considered under the PSTM quota.
3. This contention was strongly objected by the learned Standing Counsel and submitted that, to be eligible under the PSTM quota, a candidate must have studied in Tamil medium from 1st standard up to the degree level, as the degree is the prescribed qualification for the post in question. 2/4 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis

4. I have given my anxious consideration to either side submissions and also perused the materials available on record.
5. Admittedly, in the case on hand, the petitioner studied Hindi medium both at Matriculation and Higher Secondary levels. When this Court put a specific question as to whether the petitioner, if not eligible under the PSTM quota, could be considered under the general turn. For which, the learned Standing Counsel submitted that the petitioner does not fall within the zone of
consideration even under the general category. Therefore, this Court does not find merit in the writ petition and accordingly, the same is liable to be dismissed.
6. In the result, the writ petition is dismissed. No costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petitions are stand closed. 25.07.2025 ssi Index : Yes Speaking Order : Yes /No Neutral Citation Case: Yes/No C. KUMARAPPAN, J. 3/4 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis
