This is a Civil Writ Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondent to release the land of the petitioners on which they have constructed houses and are still in possession and living there and have not been paid the compensation which was acquired vide notification dated 22.05.1995 issued under Section 4 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 (Annexure P-1) and the notification dated 10.05.1996 issued under Section 6 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 (Annexure P-2), as the petitioners are still in possession of the land in question. 2.
