SANJAY VASHISTH , J (ORAL) 1. Present petition has been filed by the petitioner, seeking grant of anticipatory bail, in case, FIR No.78 dated 08.05.2025, under Section 420 of IPC and section 13 of Punjab Travel Professionals (Regulation) Act, 2014, registered at Police Station Cantonment, District Amritsar. 2. On 06.08.2025, learned counsel for the petitioner submitted before this Court that petitioner was willing to settle the dispute, which is essentially monetary in nature. 3. Thereafter, on 26.08.2025, petitioner succeeded in obtaining an interim order whereby his arrest was stayed by this Court. As noticed in paragraph No.9 of the said order, petitioner was also directed to LAVISHA 2026.07.15 14:17 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document PHHC, Chandigarh CRM-M-32975-2025 -2- produce a demand draft for a sum of Rs.5,00,000/- before this Court, and the said interim protection has continued, till date. 4. Today, learned counsel for the petitioner seeks permission to withdraw the present petition. However, this Court finds that request of withdrawal of the present petition is wholly ingenuine. Petitioner has obtained interim protection from arrest by this Court, on the basis of the statement that he was willing to amicably resolve the monetary dispute and has continued to enjoy the benefit of the interim order for a period of more than eleven months. Having availed such protection, petitioner now seeks to withdraw the petition without any satisfactory explanation. 5. In these circumstances, this Court is not inclined to permit the withdrawal of the present petition. Rather, present petition is dismissed, with costs of Rs.20,000/-, to be deposited by the petitioner with the concerned District Legal Services Authority (DLSA). Proof of such deposit shall be produced before the Court concerned, at the time of consideration of the petitioner's application for regular bail, and the said Court shall ensure compliance with this direction. 6. Let a copy of this order be transmitted to the Trial Court for information and necessary compliance, and be placed on the record of the case.
