1. The present petition has been filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India seeking issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus, with the following substantive prayer:
“Issue a criminal writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents No.2 and 3 to protect the lives and personal liberty of the petitioners and also directing the respondents No.4 to 6 not to interfere in the personal lives and liberty of the petitioners and further directing the respondent No.2 and 3 not to allow/let respondents No.4 to 6 or anybody else to interfere with the liberty and lives of the petitioners or to harass them in any manner against the wishes of the petitioners or to cause any detriment to the petitioners in any manner and for issuance of any other appropriate order or direction to which this Hon’ble Court may deem fit and proper in the facts and circumstances of the case as made out hereunder.”

Learned counsel for the petitioners limits her prayer and submits that the petitioners would be satisfied, for the nonce, if a direction is issued to respondent No.2 to consider and take a conscious decision on the representation (Annexure P-5) made by the petitioners in a time bound manner. 3. Notice of motion.
4. On the strength of the advance notice, Mr. Jatinder Pal Singh, Senior DAG Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the official respondents. Mr. Karan Singla, Advocate appears and files vakalatnama on behalf of respondent No.4. The same is taken on record.
5. Learned State counsel submits he has no objection in case the limited prayer made by the learned counsel for the petitioners, at this stage, is accepted.
6. I have heard learned counsel for the rival parties and have perused the paper-book with their assistance.

Keeping in view the entirety of facts and circumstances of the case; without going into merits thereof, the instant petition is disposed of with a direction to the Senior Superintendent of Police, District Rupnagar (respondent No.2 herein) to look into the representation (Annexures P-5) moved by the petitioners; objectively consider the grievance(s) raised in the said representation; take ratiocinated decision thereupon after affording opportunity of hearing to the petitioners, in accordance with law, within a period of two weeks from today. Such decision be communicated to the petitioners within fifteen days of it being taken.
