(ORAL) The present criminal writ petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of writ in the nature of mandamus by directing respondents No.2 & 3 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of private respondents. The learned counsel for the petitioners contends that the petitioners are residing in live-in relationship with each other against the wishes of respondents No.4 to 7 and petitioner No.1 claims herself to be 19 years of age whereas petitioner No.2 claims himself to be 20 years of age and seek protection to their life and liberty. They apprehend danger from respondents No.4 to 7. The petitioners have also submitted a representation (Annexure P-3) to respondent No.2 but no action has been taken so far. Without commenting on the validity of the relationship of the petitioners and entering upon an exercise to evaluate the evidentiary value of the documents placed on file, I dispose of this petition with direction to respondent No.2 to decide the representation of the petitioners (Annexure P-3) within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and grant them protection, if there is any threat to their life and liberty in accordance with law. It is made clear that this order shall not be taken to protect the petitioners from legal action for violation of law, if any committed by them.
