When the petition is called out for hearing, the learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that the Registry has been informed that the Vakalatnama filed on behalf of the petitioner has been withdrawn. In fact, the record shows that on 28.06.2017, the advocate appearing for the petitioner had made a statement that the petitioner had taken away papers in order to engage the services of another advocate. It is further submitted that appropriate steps were being taken to seek discharge. 2. We find that this petition, filed as far back as in the year Kartikeya,P.A. 2 18-WP-2086-2016.doc 2016, has not been effectively taken up for hearing or circulated on behalf of the petitioner for the past 9 years. The petitioner has approached this Court seeking direction against the respondent- Authorities in respect of eviction under Section 31 of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951. 3. Evidently, the petitioner is not interested in pursuing this petition as no effective hearing has taken place for the past 9 years and as far back as in June 2017, the petitioner had taken the papers away from the advocate for engaging the services of another advocate. 4. The petitioner has not taken any effective steps in that regard and no effective instructions have been given to the advocate who was earlier engaged in the matter. 5.
