Murali Vinoth Standing Counsel ***** 1/4 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P.No.25353 of 2025 O R D E R The instant writ petition has been filed with a prayer for issuing a Mandamus to direct the respondent to settle a sum of Rs.5,54,327/- towards 6% interest for the belated settlement of terminal benefits to the petitioner herein, by considering the representations of the petitioner dated 21.03.2025 and 30.06.2025 and pass such orders accordingly. 2.The learned counsel for the petitioners would submit that the petitioners had retired on superannuation. However, their retirement benefit has been given belatedly without any interest. In this connection, the petitioner has sent representations dated 21.03.2025 and 30.06.2025 to the respondent seeking interest @ 6% for the belated payment of the terminal benefits. However, there was no response for the same. 3. At this juncture, the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondent would fairly submit that they would pay interest @ 6% pa as ordered in the writ petition. 2/4 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P.No.25353 of 2025 4. Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record. 5. In view of the said fair submission made by the learned Standing Counsel, without going to the merits of this Writ Petition, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondent to pay the interest @ 6% p.a. for the belated payment of the terminal benefits within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order. 6. In the result, this Writ Petition is disposed of with the above directions.
