The case of the petitioner is that he and other villagers of Gram-Sarkanda have made representations to the District Magistrate to convert Gram Sabha, Sarkanda into Gram Panchayat, Sarkanda for purposes of holding the upcoming election of the local bodies. 2. Learned counsel for the petitioner has invited attention towards an order passed by District Magistrate on 11.04.2022, by which a similar prayer made in the past was declined, but it was left open for the said issue being re-examined at the time of next elections. 3. Sri Rajeev Gupta, learned Additional Chief Standing Counsel appearing for the State has no objection in respect of the prayer of petitioner for consideration of the said aspect afresh by District Magistrate based on the present population and other relevant factors. 4. Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of with direction to respondent No.3 to take decision on the representation of the petitioner and other villagers dated 23.05.2025 (Annexure-10) within a period of six weeks from the date of communication of the instant order along with photocopy of the representation.
