Through the instant writ petition, as cast under Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India, a prayer is made for issuance of a Mandamus, upon the official respondents, to accept the original registration certification and other documents of Vehicle No.PJB-0037, registered on 28.02.2011, and, consequent thereupon, for issuance of a new registration number. 2. This Court, on 07.07.2025, had passed the hereinafter extracted order:- “Through the instant writ petition, as cast under Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India, a prayer is made for issuance of a Mandamus, upon the official respondents, to accept the original registration certification and other documents of Vehicle No.PJB- 0037, registered on 28.02.2011, and, consequent thereupon, for issuance of a new registration number. Learned counsel for the petitioner, inter alia, submits that the lackadaisical and indolent approach of the authority concerned, in not taking final decision on AMIT KUMAR 2025.07.18 09:23 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document CWP-18287-2025 -2- the application/representation dated 09.06.2025 (Annexure P-7), as submitted by the petitioner, propelled him to approach this Court, by filing the instant writ petition. Without issuing a formal notice, at this stage, the learned State counsel is directed to have apt instructions from the quarter concerned, and inform this Court, as to how much is required by the authorities concerned, to decide the application/representation (supra).” 3. In compliance to the order (supra), at the outset, learned Assistant Advocate General, Punjab, on instructions imparted to him by Mr. Amanpal Singh, RTO, Jalandhar, informs the Court that the apt action is to be taken by either RTO, Jalandhar, or RTO, Bathinda, and the same would be taken within four weeks from passing of this order. 4. In view of the specific stand taken by the learned State counsel, this Court deems it apt to dispose of the instant writ petition, at this stage, with a direction to both, RTO, Jalandhar and RTO, Bathinda, whosoever is competent, to take a final decision on the application/representation (supra), as submitted by the petitioner within four weeks from passing of this order. 5. Learned State counsel shall inform both the RTOs about the direction (supra), as passed by this Court, for latter to make compliance. 6. Disposed of, accordingly.
