The petition in hand has been preferred under Article 226 of the Constitution of India with the following substantive prayer(s):- “(i) To call the complete record of the case of the petitioner; (ii) Issue a writ, order or direction especially in the nature of Mandamus directing the respondents to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner at the hands of gunda elements who are spreading rumor upon the petitioner and his family members regarding revenge for the murder of one Ravneet Singh @ Sonu Mota who is the real brother of the petitioner, whereas the petitioner has no connection of whatsoever nature with the said threat messages and this rumor is being spread to involve the name of the petitioner in false case; (iii) Issue a nature the writ in of Mandamus, directing the respondent No.2 to look into the representation (Annexure P-2) of the petitioner and take appropriate action in the matter, as per law;” 2. Notice of motion. 4. On the strength of advance copy, Mr. Jatinder Pal Singh, Sr. DAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the respondents. He has urged that he has no objection in case limited prayer made by the petitioner, for decision of his representation dated 02.06.2025 (Annexure P-2), is directed for. 5. Having heard learned counsel for the rival party(s) and upon perusal of the paper-book, this Court deems it appropriate to dispose of the petition in hand with the following directions: (i) Respondent No.2 (Commissioner of Police, Amritsar City) is mandated to look into the representation dated 02.06.2025 (Annexure P-2) moved by the petitioner, objectively consider the grievance(s) raised therein & take ratiocinated decision thereupon within a period of 7 days from today. It is hoped and expected that the said authority (Commissioner of Police, Amritsar City) shall take a pragmatic decision and requisite consequential steps accordingly, as per law.
