Rajesh Bhardwaj, J. (ORAL) Prayer in the present petition is for issuance of direction to official respondents No.3 and 4 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners from private respondents No.5 to 8, who are drug peddler and are running network of distribution of drugs. It has been submitted by learned counsel for the petitioners that the private respondents had caused injuries to the petitioners, for which the petitioners have already filed a representation. He submits that the petitioners have approached the respondent-Investigating Agency number of times, but they are being compelled to compromise the matter. He submits that the injuries caused to the petitioners are apparent from the MLR appended with the petition, which is also submitted before the Investigating Agency as well. He, thus, submits that the petitioners deserves to be granted protection and FIR be also registered against the private respondents. Notice of motion. Mr. J.S. Arora, DAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the State. However, learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that the petitioners would cooperated with the Investigation Agency. After hearing learned counsel for the parties, the present petition is disposed of with the a direction to respondent No.3 i.e. Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar to decide the representation (Annexure P-5), within a period of one month from today, in accordance with law and grant immediate protection, if any threat to the life and liberty of the petitioners, is perceived. It is being clarified that this order shall not be taken to grant immunity to the petitioners for legal action for violation of law, if any, committed by them.
