The prayer in the instant petition is for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus, directing the respondents to refix the salary of the petitioner by placing him in the senior pay-scale with effect from 31.12.2005, as per the provisions of the Punjab Civil Services [Revised Pay] [First Amendment] Rules, 1998 w.e.f. 31.12.2025, the date when the senior scale was due. Since it has been granted to similarly situated employees, including skilled and semi-skilled ones. 2. The learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits on instructions, that the petitioner shall be satisfied, if, at this stage, the direction is issued to respondent No.2 i.e. Director, Department of Local Government with direction to consider and decide his representation dated 15.02.2019 in a time-bound manner. CWP-18430-2025 -2- 3. Notice of motion. 4. Learned State Counsel, who is present in Court, accepts notice and waives service, and does not oppose the limited prayer made by the petitioner. 5. In view thereof, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the claim raised by the petitioner, the instant petition is disposed of with direction to respondent No.2 to consider and decide the representation of the petitioner dated 15.02.2019 [Annexure P-6] within a period 8 weeks from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order. 6. Needless to say that the representation shall be decided strictly in accordance with law, after adherence to the principles of natural justice and by passing a reasoned order. 7. Disposed of in the aforesaid terms.
