The case of the petitioner is that he applied for grant of a passport to him on 07.09.2024 by online mode on the official website. His application is stated to be pending at the stage of police verification. The prayer made in the writ petition is for issuing writ of mandamus commanding the respondents to submit verification report and consider his application for grant of passport. 2. Submission is that the petitioner was accused in Case Crime No. 0143 of 2019, under Sections 506, 323, 354Kh IPC, P.S. Phoolpur, District Azamgarh, and in the said case, the police, after verification, has submitted a final report. 3. It is not clear from the pleadings whether the final report has been accepted or not. In any event, it is for the petitioner to place entire facts in this regard before the Passport Authority so that his application for grant of passport is disposed of. 4. Accordingly, we dispose of the petition with liberty to the petitioner to submit proper application along with documentary evidence in support of his case that final report has already been submitted in the criminal case and that there is no other criminal case pending against him. 5. We further provide that as soon as the formalities as contemplated under law are completed by the petitioner, the Regional Passport Officer shall take decision in the matter expeditiously.
