The prayer made in the instant petition is for issuing a writ of mandamus directing respondent no. 3 to issue fresh passport to the petitioner in pursuance of his application dated 24.1.2025. 2. The petitioner was issued a notice by the passport office on 27.2.2025 seeking his explanation in respect of a criminal case against him under the Electricity Act. The case of the petitioner is that in the said case he confessed his offence and consequently, he was convicted and imposed a fine of Rs. 20,000/- and in default, to undergo imprisonment of 15 days. The petitioner has deposited the fine. 3. It seems that the petitioner has not appeared before the Passport Officer with relevant documents as required of him vide show cause notice dated 27.2.2025. 4. Therefore, we dispose of the instant petition with liberty to the petitioner to appear before the Passport Officer and place relevant documents before him so that further action is taken in the matter expeditiously. .
