ORAL ORDER (PER: HON'BLE MR. VIBHU BAKHRU, CHIEF JUSTICE)
1. The petitioner has filed the present public interest litigation, inter alia praying that the directions be issued to respondent Nos.2 and 3 - State Government to immediately initiate and complete the process for the selection and appointment of 8 Members to the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, 18 Presidents to the District Commissions and 35 Members at the District Commissions in accordance with the directives issued by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India. 2.
The learned counsel for the petitioner has drawn the attention of this Court to the judgment passed by Hon'ble Supreme Court in Civil Appeal No.9982/2024 captioned Ganeshkumar Rajeshwarrao Selukar and others. vs. Mahendra Bhaskar Limaye and others: Neutral Citation No.2025 INSC 752, whereby the

Hon'ble Supreme Court had issued certain directions in exercise of the powers conferred under Article 142 of the Constitution of India. The Hon'ble Supreme Court had further directed that the Union of India should notify the new Rules within a period of 4 months from the date of the said judgment and further directed that upon notification of the new Rules by the Union of India, all the State Governments to complete the process of recruitment under the said Rules, within a period of 4 months from the date of the notification of the said Rules. The said order was passed on
21.05.2025. 3. This Court is informed that the Union of India has not yet notified the new Rules. Therefore, no directions at this stage are required to be issued. Undisputedly, the respondents would have to comply with the directions of the Hon'ble Supreme Court and make appointments within the period of 4 months as directed by the Supreme Court. No further orders are required to be passed. - 5 -
