Petitioners have approached this Court for protection. According to them, they knew each other since one and a half years, and gradually they started loving each other, which resulted in their marriage. As per the Nikahnama, which is enclosed as Annexure No. 2 to the Writ Petition, Nikah between the petitioners was solemnised on 20.04.2024. Both the petitioners are present in Court. 4. Petitioner no. 1 stated that he works as a Carpenter in a furniture shop at Manglaur, District Haridwar. Petitioner no. 2 stated that she belongs to Village Charthawal, District Muzaffarnagar. Both of them stated that there is a grave threat to their lives because of their marriage against the wish of family members of petitioner no. 2. 5. State Counsel submits that since both the petitioners are major, as per documents enclosed with the writ Petition and they are now married also, therefore, he has no objection if protection is granted to them. 6. Accordingly, we dispose of the Writ Petition with a direction to Station House Officer, Police Station Mangluar, District Haridwar to provide protection to petitioners for period of six weeks to ensure that no 2025:UHC:4290-DB harm is caused to them. Upon expiry of six weeks, the SHO concerned shall make assessment of threat perception to petitioners and take such measures, as are deemed necessary for their safety. (Ashish Naithani, J.)
