By means of this writ petition, petitioners have sought following reliefs: “(i) a suitable writ order or direction in the nature of mandamus commanding the Respondent No. 1 to 4 to protect the life and liberty of the Petitioner and their family members from the respondent nos. 5 to 8 and their associates by providing adequate police protection to the Petitioners and their family members, (ii) a writ order or direction in the nature of mandamus commanding the State Respondent No. 1 to 3 to constitute a high level monitoring committee comprising District Level Officers for monitoring the investigation of FIR No. 0227 of 2025 under Section 115(2), 191(2), 191(3), 333, 351(3), 352 and 74 of B.N.S-2023 Police Station Sidkul District Haridwar (Annexure no. 1 to the writ petition) and further directing the monitoring committee to produce the progress on day today basis before this Hon'ble Court.” 3. According to petitioners, respondent Nos. 5, 6, 7 & 8 entered their house on 08.05.2025 and assaulted them and an FIR regarding said incident was lodged in Police Station, SIDCUL, Haridwar. Petitioners have sought a direction to grant protection to them. 4. Learned State Counsel submits that investigation is going on in respect of the FIR registered by petitioners. He submits that it is 2025:UHC:4283-DB not known as to whether any cross FIR has been lodged in the matter by the other side. He submits that if petitioners approach the S.H.O. concerned with a request to grant protection to them, then he shall assess their threat perception to take necessary steps. 5. Accordingly, Writ Petition is disposed of by permitting petitioners to approach the SHO, Police Station SIDCUL, Haridwar for protection. If petitioners approach the concerned S.H.O., he shall look into the threat perception of the petitioners and take such measures as are being necessary. The SHO concerned shall also examine whether any cross FIR has also been lodged in the matter. (Ashish Naithani, J.)
