Petitioner claims to be a registered contractor in the Irrigation Department. He has approached this Court with the grievance that though in terms of the work allotted to him he has performed various works but the admitted dues in respect of such work are not being released. Various representations in that regard have been made, but since no decision upon it is taken the petitioner is before this Court. Learned counsel for the respondents submits that certain dues of petitioner are admitted and that an appropriate decision in respect of release of such dues would be taken shortly. In view of the specific stand taken by the respondent before us today, we dispose of this petition with a direction upon the concerned authority i.e. respondent no. 4 to take an appropriate decision in the matter relating to release of admitted dues of the petitioner and ensure that such admitted dues are released to him, at the earliest possible, in accordance with law. It is made clear that we have not adjudicated claim of the petitioner on merits and all factual issues are left open for examination by the competent authority.
