2. The petitioner is before this Court, aggrieved by the
order dated 31.05.2017 in Applications No.1 to 3/2017, wherein the Karnataka State Administrative Tribunal at Bengaluru (for short “Tribunal”) refused to quash the selection list dated 14.10.2016 (Annexure-A43) and final

selection list dated 27.10.2016 (Annexure-A42) and to include the name of the petitioner in the final select list of Junior Engineer (Mechanical Engineering) under Notification dated 01.12.2016. 3. The petitioner is a Diploma Holder in Mechanical Engineering (Automobile Technology). Under Notification dated 01.02.2016, applications were invited to fill up the post of Junior Engineers (Mechanical Engineering) in the Public Works Department. The qualification prescribed for the post of Junior Engineer (Mechanical Engineering) is Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. The petitioner participated in the selection process, but the name of the petitioner was not found either in the provisional or final select list. Questioning the non-selection, the petitioner was before the Tribunal. Before the Tribunal, the respondents contended that the petitioner would not possess the prescribed qualification in terms of notification dated 01.02.2016. Accepting the said contention of the respondents, the Tribunal, under impugned order dated

31.05.2018 rejected petitioner’s application. Questioning the said order, petitioner is before this Court in this writ petition. 4. We have heard learned Additional Government Advocate Smt.Sukanya Baliga for respondents. 5. On going through the averments in the writ petition as well as arguments of the learned AGA, we are of the considered view that the petitioner has not made out any ground to interfere with the impugned order under challenge. Admittedly, the qualification prescribed for the post of Junior Engineer (Mechanical Engineering) under notification dated 01.02.2016 is Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. The petitioner would not possess the said qualification. Whereas the petitioner possesses qualification of Diploma in Automobile Technology which is not the prescribed qualification or equivalent qualification. The qualification of Mechanical Engineering (Automobile Technology) is not declared as equivalent to Diploma in

Mechanical Engineering as required under Rule 2(h) of Karnataka Civil Services (General Recruitment) Rules,
1977. In the absence of the petitioner possessing the qualification prescribed under notification dated 01.02.2016, there is no reason to interfere with the impugned order passed by the Tribunal. 6. There is no merit in the writ petition and accordingly, the writ petition stands rejected.
