1. Ramanpreet Kaur and Manminder Singh, the petitioners before this Court, claim themselves to be major. It has been pleaded that they have married against the wishes of the respondents No. 4 to 9 and seek protection to their life and liberty. They apprehend danger from the respondents No. 4 to 9. They have placed on record marriage certificate (Annexure P-3) evidencing their marriage. The petitioners have submitted a representation dated 04.06.2025 (Annexure P-5) to the respondent No.2.
2. Without entering upon an exercise to evaluate the evidentiary value of the documents placed on the file, this Court disposes of the writ petition with directions to the respondent No.2 to decide the representation of the petitioners (Annexure P-5) within a period of one month and grant them protection. If any threat to their life and liberty is perceived, it is made clear that this order shall not be taken to protect the petitioners from legal action for violation of law, if any, committed by them.
4. All the pending miscellaneous applications, if any, are also disposed of. June 9th, 2025
